Pricing
This very much depends on the drop, width and weight of the curtains to be cleaned. You can get a free online quote here. If you have multiple pairs of curtains to be cleaned and pressed, we may be able to offer you a discount. Please call us directly on 01 25 22 444 to discuss.
Our online calculator will provide you with a quote for curtain cleaning.
You just need to
- provide 2 measurements – drop (also known as height or length) and width (the width should be measured at the bottom of the curtain).
- tell us how heavy the curtain material and lining is.
The quote you receive is for a pair of curtains. If you are only looking to have 1 curtain cleaned, we typically charge 60% of the cost of cleaning a pair of curtains.
The measurements can either be done in feet / inches or metres / centimetres – the calculator can cater for both!
The more accurate the measurements are, the more reliable your quote will be (assuming you classify the curtain material and lining correctly). Measuring the window itself doesn’t tend to be a good proxy, as this typically considerably underestimates the amount of fabric in the curtains themselves.
The online calculator provides an accurate quote, as long as your inputs are correct. Any significant differences in width, drop or weight of curtains can result in a difference in pricing.
We will contact you to discuss the increase in price before any work is done on cleaning your curtains. If we can agree on updated pricing, we’ll move forward with the cleaning process. If we can’t agree on pricing, we’ll return the curtains to you. This may involve a collection/delivery charge to cover our costs. Any other monies paid to date will be refunded to you.
We look for a 50% deposit when we receive the curtains, with the balance payable when everything is returned to you. Payment can be made in cash directly to our driver, or online in advance by credit, debit card or bank transfer.
Alternatively, if you prefer, we can take card payment over the phone. Please ring 01 25 44 222 to arrange this.
Service Queries
We do all our cleaning and pressing in-house so we can turn around curtain cleaning within a few days if you are under time pressure to get them back. However, if you wish to use our collection & delivery service, please allow extra time for this. In exceptional circumstances we can prioritise collection / delivery for an extra express fee.
All curtains are cleaned in our premises in Glasnevin. We cannot clean curtains on-site in your own home as they need to be put through our dry cleaning machine and are then professionally pressed using specialist equipment.
Yes – where the order value is €100 or greater we can provide a collection & delivery service.
This is free for customers based in Dublin city or county.
We change a nominal fee of €10 per leg for customers based in counties Meath, Kildare and Wicklow. You can avoid this charge by bringing the curtains directly to our shop in Glasnevin and collecting them from there.
We’re open from 9am – 5pm Monday to Saturday.
We don’t typically offer this service. Curtains need to be taken down and all hooks removed prior to collection / cleaning.
However, if you have multiple pairs of curtains to be cleaned, for an additional cost we may be able to assist with taking them down and re-hanging them. Please ring us directly on 01 25 44 222 to discuss further.
No – not all curtains can be cleaned – typically it’s the lining that causes problems. See questions below regarding blackout lining for further details.
We will not be able to clean your curtains and there may be a charge due for collection & delivery.
Yes we can. Interlining is a ‘blanket like’ material and may sit between the curtain fabric and curtain lining. It’s typically found in custom made curtains, particularly in period houses which can be draughty. It provides a form of insulation which helps to block out draughts. Interlined curtains tend to be very heavy and are more expensive to clean, due to extra drying cycles being required to ‘dry’ the curtains thoroughly.
Yes – we work with an excellent seamstress who can alter / repair curtains if required.
It is very rare that curtains get damaged during the cleaning process. When it happens, it is typically as a result of pre-existing damage or manufacturing issues. All curtains are cleaned in line with the manufacturer's instructions / care label. In the absence of a care label, curtains are cleaned at the owner’s risk. Any specific concerns that the dry cleaner has in advance of cleaning the curtains will be discussed with you prior to cleaning.
If metal rings come out during the dry cleaning process this is down to a manufacturing error. In such cases we will provide you with a letter which you can use to seek a refund from the supplier / manufacturer.
Yes – provided all attachments / mechanisms for opening and closing the blinds can be removed, thus leaving the fabric alone to be cleaned.
Yes – we have specialist products that we can use to help brighten up net curtains. The results will depend on a variety of factors so cannot be guaranteed.
If the pelmet is attached to a rigid structure such as wood or board, then it can not be cleaned.
Tie backs should be cleaned at the same time as the curtains to prevent any colour differences.
Please note fringing on pelmets and tie backs can become frayed during the cleaning process.
Curtain Cleaning Queries
The curtain cleaning process will freshen up your curtains. This in turn improves the air quality in your room and also has the added benefit of extending the life of your curtains.
Dry cleaning is unlikely to entirely remove mould from curtains, particularly if it has been on the curtains for an extended period of time. Even if the mould marks do not come out fully, dry cleaning should improve the appearance. The dry cleaning process will kill the spores, preventing health issues and stopping the problem from getting any worse.
Dry cleaning will not remove all smells from curtains, particularly lingering smells like smoke or kitchen odours. However, for an additional charge, there is a specialist product that we can add during the cleaning process which gives the curtains a ‘fresh smell’.
We can never guarantee that dry cleaning will remove all stains particularly if they've been on the curtains for an extended period of time. However, all stains are pre-treated prior to the curtains being cleaned, giving the best chance of them ‘lifting’ during the cleaning process. Either way the dry cleaning process will freshen up your curtains and make them look brighter / cleaner.
No – not all curtains can be cleaned – typically it’s the lining that causes problems. See questions below re blackout lining for further details.
Yes, BUT be aware - the fire retardant properties are ‘lost’ during the cleaning process. So, unless you are comfortable with this, they should not be cleaned.
Dry cleaning will brighten up the colours of your curtains, however it will not restore colour that has been sun bleached from your curtain fabric.
Blackout Lining
No – not all curtains can be cleaned – typically it’s the lining that causes problems. See questions below re blackout lining for further details.
Blackout lining is a special ‘rubbery’ coating that’s applied to curtain lining, designed to block all sunlight getting through. It’s quite common on bedroom curtains. We do not clean curtains that have blackout lining as they can get damaged during the cleaning process which is not good for your curtains or our equipment !!
No – we don’t clean curtains with blackout lining as the lining can get damaged whilst in the dry cleaning machine. Whilst not apparent to the human eye, over time the bond on the blackout lining weakens – caused by direct sunlight ‘hitting’ the fabric over an extended period of time when the curtains are drawn. As a direct result, the blackout lining can ‘peel’ away from the lining fabric whilst being cleaned, meaning that the curtains are no longer usable without replacing the lining.
For expensive, custom-made curtains with blackout lining, we can arrange to have the lining removed prior to cleaning. This typically involves cutting the lining towards the top of the curtains so the lining will be a little shorter when it’s re-fitted. We then dry clean the curtain fabric only before having the lining re-fitted and the curtains pressed. Please note that the blackout lining does not get cleaned. It is also an expensive approach, typically doubling the cost, so only viable for very good curtains.
We will not be able to clean your curtains and there may be a charge due for collection & delivery.
